Boston-based painter Danielle Coenen is best known for her portraits characterized by saturated palettes and merging of realism with expressive mark making. Her deep interest in psychology is the driving force behind her love for portraiture, with her style evolving from a long accumulation of influences including graffiti, surrealism, and abstract expressionism. She received a BFA from The Art Institute of Boston at Lesley University in 2011, trained in both painting and sculpture. Danielle’s work has been exhibited in Boston, New York City, Los Angeles, and is held in collections across the U.S. and internationally. Danielle also teaches art privately and is a nationally recognized art educator with awards from The Scholastic Foundation and The National YoungArts Foundation.
